The thing I find interesting about this document is Williams and James birth dates 3 February 1813 and 3 February 1817
The younger brother Thomas was born 23 March 1820
The Christening took place on the 24 May1820 , What I think happened was the parents were ask how old the children where, Thomas was still young they would have remembered that but the other 2 they would have said “ James is 3 or 4 and William is about 6 or 7 but we don’t know the dates..” I don’t know if the parents could read or write??
I think the person who wrote the document guessed there birth
If the family were uneducated they wouldn’t know how to read a calendar but James as a adult would have just picked a year for his birth and that could have changed through out his life, this shows in the 1851, 1861 and 1871 Census where his age details make him born in different years

Catherine Blanford nee Morris his wife was born on the14 May 1823 in Whitechapel England and Christened on 01 June 1823. Catherines parents were Daniel and Catherine Morris. I have no information on this family
Catherine Morris and James Blanford were married on the 19 May 1839 in the Parish of Stepney in the County of Middlesex England
There are parts of the original document that are quiet hard to read
I brought the original from Tower Hamlets BMD web site

There are 3 things that the Marriage certificate shows that I don’t know
1 what does Full Age mean ?
Since placing this researchers have told what this means
On marriage certificates ' Full Age" means that a person is at the legal age ( at that time ) to consent to marry without parental permission
2 I cant read the signature of the person who performed the marriage
3 The 2 people whom the marriage were in the presence of William Sinfield and Sarah Sinfield. My first thought was Sarah ,James sister and her husband but the only records I have is Sarah`s marriage to a Daniel Sinfield 18 Oct 1863 at St Thomas, Stepney. He was a widower and she a widow, but couldn’t find another earlier marriage for Sarah. On the Marriage entry she is Sarah Sinfield, so I wonder if she is marrying into the same family ie was William Sinfield her first husband and Daniel her Second and the 2 husbands were either brothers or cousins ?

There are 3 things that the Death certificate shows that I don’t know
1 I don’t know the Doctor who last attended Mr James Blanford before his death , I couldn’t read his signature
2 There was a line crossed out under James fathers ie Gray Blanford name which I cant read
3 I have a signature of the undertaker but cant read it
The Death certificate for James has his father as James Gray Blanford but has no mention of his mother ( no place on the certificate for mothers ) It also shows there were 9 children, there ages but no names. 5 males and 4 female children.
As you can see parts of these documents are hard to read such as the Doctors name and who the undertaker was ... in a newspaper later in the same week the undertakers name showed really well, he was
His grave reads (Wellington District, Karori Cemetery 00835-845 m02-12 Area 8 block B row 6 plot 28) In Memory of J Blandford died 1896 also his son James beloved husband of Mary Ann Blandford died 29 October 1925 aged 84
These Death and Funeral notices are from the Evening Post 22 July 1896 James Blanford died 21 July 1896 at his sons residence in Alfred Street Wellington New Zealand , He was buried in the Karori Cemetery in Wellington NZ

In a email I received in February of 2011 is said “ She did tell of a story that Lord Gray Blandford sent his illegitimate son James Blandford to New Zealand as a Remittance Man but I don’t know about the truth of that “
Remittance Man means “A British immigrant who was supported by remittance from Britain”.
Remittance is the sending of Money or Credit to a person
My family tell of a story of someone coming from England enquiring about the family (they thought a legal matter) asking for a Mr Blanford .They thought it could be something bad so said No we spell our name with a “d” in it Blandford so you cant be looking for use????
Could James Gray Blanford be Lord Gray Bandford????
